So I left one of my Tuscan Kale plants in the ground over the winter and it survived. This spring it has been blooming like crazy! Kale is a biennial which means it lives for two growing seasons. During the first season it just produces leaves. If it survives the winter it will produce flowers during the second season. Then it dies. I just found out that the flowers are edible so I put some in the salad. They have a mild sweet flavor. And they made the salad pretty.
